There are 346 refugee camps in Sri Lanka.

I visited many refugee camps in the south to find facts,what I see is that for the people in refugee camps,they get ,help from some where,but there are some who cannot live in refugee camps because they are working and they are more comfortable in relations houses or in the broken houses which they were living earlier.These people don't get any help from anywhere.

I selected some people, whom my past guests know,some of them have even worked for the guests, when they were in their hotels, where they were working.

I suggest that it is good to help these people so that they have the feeling that our past guests didnot,forget them, in this disaster.

If we can help them they will be very greatful to the guests,and they will never forget their names for their lifetime.

Even though in a small scale it will be an invaluable help, and other advantage is that, when ever the donors come to visit Sri Lanka again,they can go and visit them, and see what they have done from the money which they got, also if anyone of their friends are here, they can tell them to visit them,and see what they have done from the money they donated.In this way we can be happy that we have used the money in a thing, that we can see in future.Even the donors children,if they come to Sri Lanka in future, they can see and be proud of what their parents had done.

The different of this is from the common donations is, in common donations the donors don't know, where the money went.They cannot see the result specifically.Before I start it, I would like to have your suggestions on this.

Chandima Amaratunga (Steward Rampart Hotel) Wife is working in a garment Factory.He has a 8 months baby His salary is rs.3000/ basic.His wife also earns similar amount.

He was in a small wooden shanty house paying a very high rent as Rs.1500/- without water and electricity bills.It is too much according to the size of house and the available facilities.

You can see the state of the house inside, still they have not removed their belongings, and it is still the same way filled with mud.
Because of the small child ,he has bought a land in a close by place and already started building his house with a bank loan.

When I went to take his old house the owners of the house came scolding him to push him out from his old house.The owners are not human beings they try to take advantage out of this situation.

If he has another Rs.10,000.00 he can finish the two roomed new house and start living in the new house.At present they live in a relations house. I thought to give him Rs.10,000.00 as a push to finish his house with the roof.

Otherwise the owners will push him out of his old house. He is a hard working person and he has finished his house by working mostly himself.When I met him he had his leg wounded because a brick has fallen on to his leg.

R.S.H.Swarnalatha (Stewardess Unawatuna Beach Resort.)
This is R.S.H.Swarnalatha inside her broken house with her father.Her father had a small tea kiosk here. That was his main income.

Now he is mentally diprerssed because he lost his business and his wealth. They rented this house.Their family has 5 members. Swrnalatha has three sisters, one is married and devoced, otherone is a dumb girl without employment.third one is employed in a garment factory. Mother died recently of a cancer .the brother is married and staying away from the family.

Swarnalatha (swarna) is one of the two stewardesses in the Unawatuna Beach Resort Restaurant. Most of my past guests know her, That is the reason why I selected her to give a small help.

She wants to buy a piece of land and build a new house At present, they are scattered everywhere in relations houses.Which they cannot do for a long time. She needs Rs.200,000.00 to buy a new piece of land.But as a start I thought of giving her father a sum of Rs.5000.00 to start his tea business, at the same place.

This will help them to earn little money for their survival. Also another Rs.5000.00 to Swarna to start the life again., And if the tourism also becomes better Swarna also can earn again.

Later if there is progress we can give more money according to the progress they have made. If anyone can help her to buy the land things will be expedited.This is how we can see their house from behind.

Still they have not removed their belongings from wreckage because they are busy going after government officials to get help also from government,but it is not very sure for them.

He has seven people in his house. Parents,Grandmother(Died in Tsunami)2 sisiters 26 and 25 years old.One sisters child of 3 weeks old ( died in Tsunami),two brothers 22 and 23 yrs.one work as athree wheel driver and it was also washed away in Tsunami.,one sister is working in a rural bank,other has no employment.

He has nine members in the house, His father is a retired Clerical servant.He has his mother wife (pregnant) and a baby,2 sisters going to school,1 brother without work, grand mother.

He is the only person to have job to keep all these people surviving.During the day time he drives a three wheeler to earn extra money.

His mother’s leg is wounded by tsunami and the doctors put 14 stitches to the wound.He lives in the remaining part of the house with the small child .The house is cracked and inanymoment it might collapse.

This is R.Samarajeewa’s house where he lived with his three children.

His son was doing a computer course and was doing some personal research work with his computer and he showed remarkable improvements with self studying in computer so he had lot of hopes for his future.

For this work he bought him a computer which costed round Rs.50,000.00 and he used most of his earnings to make the son a better person,

so he could let him free, when he have a better job. But now all his savings with his earnings have gone in the water. His house also damaged with the boundarywall outside.

What he needs is to while reparing his house he wants his son to continue with his computer work.He shows the water level inside the house.
